Vysa-Pron MAX Tile Backer Board & Thermal Insulation

Vysa-Pron MAX tile backer board provides the thermal insulation needed to prevent downward heat loss of ceramic tiled and stone floors and, to prepare an uneven sub-floor instead of using a latex self-levelling floor smoothing compound. Being cement-reinforced, they provide strength and a secure base for tiling. Many companies offer less effective insulation for underfloor heating. Choose the best – choose Vysa-Pron Max Tile Backer Boards.

Vysa-Pron MAX Tile Backer Board & Thermal Insulation

Vysa-Pron MAX tile backer boards are an excellent addition to any underfloor heating system and can be fitted directly over:

•Wooden floor boards
•Chipboard or other similar sub-floors
•Concrete or sand and cement screeded sub-floors

1. Wooden floor boards

Vysa-Pron MAX tile backer boards can be bonded directly to wooden floor boards just like they can to a concrete sub-floor.

In addition, the 10mm thick (not 6 mm thick) Vysa-Pron MAX tile backer boards can be ‘mechanically’ fixed to the wooden floor boards using suitable countersunk head screws with penny washers under the head provided that the floor is flat and level.

A third option is to apply a bead of Vysa-Bond Ultimate to Vysa-Pron MAX tile backer boards and bond them directly to wooden floor boards or chipboard floors FAST with much less work for a 100% reliable installation.

3. Concrete or sand and cement screeded sub-floors

Vysa-Pron MAX tile backer boards can be bonded directly to a concrete sub-floor. Apply a bed of flexible floor tile adhesive using a notched trowel, then fix the Vysa-Pron MAX tile backer boards.

Slight depressions in the sub-floor will be taken up by the adhesive. The boards should be thoroughly ‘bedded’ to ensure that no voids remain beneath them.

Fixing Vysa-Pron MAX to Concrete Sub-Floors

Ensure the floor is suitably level and dust free. New cement or concrete should be fully cured before laying Vysa-Pron MAX.

The concrete or screed sub-floor must be relatively flat and smooth. It must be clean, secure and free from loose materials. If appropriate, fill large cracks and holes with sand and cement mix to repair a damaged concrete sub-floor.

Other Applications for Vysa-Pron Max Insulation Boards

In bathrooms, instead of using waterproof plasterboard before tiling walls, use Vysa-Pron Max which is reinforced with cement and a glass fibre mesh, screwed direct to timber stud walls. This provides a more rigid fix for the tiles making it less likely that they will lose their bond over time. It is also an excellent heat and sound insulation and is more effective than a waterproof plasterboard.
